VASTU TIPS

It has been said in Indian ancient scriptures that there are five elements at the core in nature. The five elements are earth, water, air, fire and ether. Ether is also referred as 'Space". I have devoted lot of time in observing and studying the fifth element viz 'Space". Ether can be very easily changed. All you need to do to increase/uplift the Ether element in your home is to make more room, i.e. free up space. This in turn enhances the Ether element and which in turn effects the occupants of the house. Most important characterstic of this element is when you create more space in your room, the effect is  uplifting of  vibration of the room. My experiements over years have led me to experience a remarkable shift in my emotional, mental state within minutes of making change in my room i.e. when I take out some big object from the room. Making more room by clearing up space can be done in multiple ways which I will describe in detail separate articles.  Sp...

Following mutual fund schemes have given returns in the range of 20% plus from a long time , i.e. since more than 15 years time frame 1 . Reliance Growth Fund - started in year 1995 - Rs 100,000/- invested at the start of this scheme has today grown to Rs 1,13,00,000/= giving a compounded annual return of approx 23% 2. Sundaram Mid Cap Find - started in the year 2002 - Rs 100,000/= invested at the start of the scheme has today grown to Rs 52,20,000/= giving a compounded annual return of 28%. Any scheme that generates returns of 20% plus per annum from a time frame of 15 years and more is a good one and investors can invest via SIP mode if you want to invest for a long time say 5 years or more.  Care should be taken to review the scheme performance every six months or one year to compare the scheme performance with bench mark index like CNX Nifty mid cap. And if the scheme performance fails below the benchmark index, then scheme should be changed to other good performing one....

WHICH IS BETTER IN TERMS OF RETURNS - MUTUAL FUNDS OR DIRECT EQUITY?

Direct equity definitely has given better returns than mutual funds. It should be remembered that investment in share market also carries greater risk. As we know, greater the risk, bigger is the reward But if one is trained in handling the risk, one may get injured or harmed Therefore,it is advised, before attempting direct equity investment, one should learn or attempt the art of risk taking in equity markets, or managing risk Take a calculated risk and this may give a much much better rewards than mutual funds.

ARE PROFITS FROM MUTUAL FUND INVESTMENTS TAXABLE IN INDIA?

Profits from Mutual Fund are of two kinds - Short Term Capital Gains - IF the MF units are sold before completion of one year from the date of purchase, then 15% short term capital gains tax is applicable. Long Term Capital Gains Tax - IF the Units of MF are sold after completion of more than one year (from the date of purchase), then profits (if any) on such transaction are exempted from Income Tax to the extent of Rs One lakh per annum. And if the profit exceeds Rs One lakh per annum, then the amount of profit exceeding One lakh will be taxed @ 10% from current assessment year onwards.

HOW DO I KNOW WHAT IS THE BEST TIME TO BUY MF OR STOCKS?

Only God knows WHAT is  the Best time to invest. Whereas our reality is that of  humans beings! There is a simple Magic Mantra to  be followed for  - Do not TIME the market , Give TIME to the market. I have seen people, who try to time the market, often end up buying at higher levels and sell at lower levels. In simple terms -  Staying invested for a longer period is what needs to be followed in addition to other analytical tools like Financial Analysis & Technical Analysis.
